The list of the Internet sites in order of their importance:
1. http://www.idealista.com/
This is one of the most visited websites for home searching in Spain and also considered one of the leaders on the market. It’s been active since 2000 and it’s very well known for the general public.
If you use a laptop or a computer for your search, it will save your preferences and the next time you log in they will offer you similar apartment adverts.
I also recommend to create alarm notifications for new adverts on similar properties. You can also choose to keep an eye on interesting properties you consider slightly too expensive, and alarm notifications are sent to you in case such properties are discounted.
The characteristics of each property and the filters you can use are quite detailed including services, number of rooms, location and neighbourhood, maximum price and other.
2. http://www.fotocasa.es/
This is another widely used website in Spain and it’s got a very high rate of daily visits, too. The same as the previous site, this one offers a wide range of characteristics and filters to make your search more personalised. You can check out its interactive map to see the location of different properties you might be interested in. Don’t forget to create alarm notifications for this website too; first comes, first served – you´ll get better results in apartment hunting if you are up to date with recently posted adverts.
3. http://www.milanuncios.com/
In comparison to the previous two, this website is not exclusively used for the real estate market – it has all type of adverts and it´s widely known all around Spain. The ones who have decided to deal directly with the landlords from the private market will appreciate its greatest advantage – although it doesn´t have the widest range of property ads, you will have a higher chance to find adverts that are not published anywhere else. By ticking “ver solo particulares” it´s possible to select properties that are rented directly by the owner.
4. http://www.enalquiler.com/
The same as the previous one, this website offers an option to filter properties according to whether they are rented by the owner or by a real estate agent – which sometimes can be an important criterion for a tenant.
They also have a blog with some useful articles and a section where to ask other tenants and owners questions.
Of course there are more websites for home searching such as www.pisos.com, globaliza.com, yaencontre.com and tucasa.com among others. Probably it’s a good idea to create alarm notifications according to selected criterion in order to receive the latest adverts from these websites, too.
Good luck with the search!
